Aadhaar Card New Rules : For updating an Aadhaar card or issuing a new Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released a revised list of valid documents. This updated document list is applicable for the assessment year 2025–26.
It is important to note that every individual is allowed to hold only one Aadhaar number. If a person has more than one Aadhaar ID, only the first issued Aadhaar will be considered valid. In many cases, due to system errors or multiple applications, the Aadhaar that was generated first using biometric information remains active and valid.
These documents can be used to verify identity, address, date of birth, and other personal details. Let’s understand this in detail.
Documents Required for Verification
Proof of Identity (PoI)
For identity verification, documents such as PAN card, Voter ID, Driving License, or any other government-issued photo identity card are accepted.
Proof of Address (PoA)
Documents accepted as proof of address include utility bills, bank passbook, ration card, or official documents issued under government housing schemes.
Proof of Date of Birth (DoB)
To update the date of birth, documents such as Birth Certificate, Passport, or SSLC certificate can be used.
